           Happenings at Calvary UMC
 
 
LENTEN CLASSES ARE ONGOING! Lent began last month and there are several classes offered to enrich your Lenten Journey. Rev. Ann is teaching a class on grace using Philip Yancey's book What's so Amazing About Grace? on Wednesdays from 1:00-2:30 pm. Rev. Khan is leading a sermon reflection group on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm.
The Lenten sermon series is called Gandhi's Seven Deadly Social Sins.
 
March 10, 2010. The Primetimers Monthly Luncheon for those 55 and older will be held on Wednesday, March 10th at 11:30 am in the Fireside area. The speaker Bobby Hoover will give the program on Lifeline of Colorado. Call 597-6461 for reservations if you have not already been contacted.
 
Celebrate Easter at Calvary UMC
 
March 28, Palm Sunday. The carrying in of palms on this special Sunday begins the Easter celebration. Come with us on this annual special journey for all Christians.

April 1, Maundy Thursday.  As part of our Lenten journey, there will be a Model Seder Supper presented by Jews for Jesus on Maundy Thursday, April 1st, in Friendship Hall at 6:30 pm. It is only a representation of the Seder meal so you should eat before you come. In order for us to have enough of the food items required, please sign up on the sheet that will be on the large bulletin board in the hall near the office.
 
April 2. Good Friday. Service will start at 7pm. It will be a somber service of darkness reflecting the grim circumstances around the crucifixion. 
 
April 4, Easter Sunday. Come celebrate the risen Lord with us on this wonderful day of days. Easter morning services are at 8:30am (praise worship) and 11:00am (traditional worship).
 
NORTHERN CHURCHES CARE NEEDS
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS: Deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, ramen noodles, rice, fresh eggs, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, canned meats (chili, stew, Chunky soups, raviolis, etc), peanut butter, tuna fish, canned vegetables, crackers (saltine, graham or Ritz), canned condensed soups, dried beans and Jell-O.

NOTE:  Starting Sunday, November 1st, the nursery will be available for your little ones by reservation only.  As always, the nursery is open every Sunday from 8:15-12:15.  However, for any childcare other than Sunday mornings, please call Lynn Miksche at 599-7250, extension 182 to make reservations.
